A Survey on the Nosocomial Infection Control Control in the Respiratory Tract


Abstract
Nurses are very important source to transmit microorganisms person to person. Precised and skilled nursing procedures are important in prevention of nosocomial infection.
Therfore this study was conducted to evaluate the methods used in nursing procedures for nosocomial infection control in respiratory system.
The samples were consisted of 70 nurses' response to the questionnaire. The data were collected during a month, 1995 of a university hospital in Pusan.
The findings of the study were as follows.
Relatively unsafe nursing procedures were reported in many areas. Hand washing is a most effective procedure to prevent nosocomial infection but it was practiced insufficiently in many cases. And relatively unsafe nursing procedures were reported
in
management of humidifiers, use of sterile water, management of circuit, tubing, humidifier and nebulizer in mechanical respirator, and management of ambu resphator, laryngoscope, suc(?)on equipment and oxygen applicators. These results were
related
that
the nurses had insufficient knowledge and intend in nosocomial infection control and some of the procedures were not practiced because of materials unready.
